beachCanadian winters are tough any year. The change in climate has made this winter an especially frigid winter for many parts of the country. It’s about that time when many Canadians start considering the possibility of taking a winter vacation getaway.

This year, more Canadians are dipping into their savings and other funding sources in order to make a vacation work. Even those who don’t normally take a winter vacation are saying no to the extreme cold and finding ways to get time off work, put together the resources to travel, and pick a warmer destination to spend some time in.

The Southern US, Central America, and South America are some of the most natural choices for this kind of a vacation. Many Americans make yearly trips in this direction as well, since these areas are still warm during the winter months. In fact, when it is winter in Canada, it is summer in Brazil! Visitors to the Southern hemisphere can expect temperatures in the 80s and 90s during the months of December, January, and February.

While much of the world is agonizing over how many layers to wear to work that day, some smart families deiced to relax in the southern hemisphere. Sipping on a Pina Colada in Puerto Rico, checking out live music under the sun at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in Florida, and eating Venezuelan food are only a few of the possibilities that await Canadians who decide to travel south.

Each country offers something amazing and breathtaking for travelers to discover.

Beaches and coastal areas are especially popular for many Canadians who decide to take a warm vacation. The ocean in some areas may still be chilly, but it certainly is a lot warmer than back in Canada!

Coastal areas offer a chance to relax, get in touch with nature, and be in some of the most serene settings in the world.

What are the most popular destinations for Canadian travelers? Florida is one that catches many travelers’ attention. You don’t have to go far from home in order to have a good winter getaway, and less adventurous travelers can be comforted when visiting a country that speaks English.

Puerto Rico is another popular option which is know for its beaches, delicious cuisine, and beach-side resorts that are popular for the whole family. A more adventurous person might choose Venezuela, Brazil, or another tropical country in South America.

No matter which destinations Canadians choose, there’s no denying that many more people than usual are being driven south this year.
